FAQs

What is permanent makeup/cosmetic tattooing?

Permanent Makeup can enhance your brows, eyes and lips with results that last, saving time on your daily beauty routine.
Cosmetic tattooing involves the application of pigment into the skin. A professional artist should use specialist equipment and techniques to ensure that the experience is quieter, gentler and less invasive. Although the treatments use needles, these needles are smaller and do not penetrate the skin as deep as traditional tattooing.

Is the treatment painful?

Although cosmetic tattooing are a form of tattooing, the pain factor is considered to be less pronounced as these treatments are gentler and less invasive. Topical anaesthetic can be used and these usually help null or soften the pain.

What techniques do you use –Machine or mocroblade?

We use a digital machine for both Hair stroke and Ombre Techniques, using a number of needles to perfect the procedure.

Do you do colours for blondes?

Yes, I have a range of colours from blondes to brunette,  I will choose a tone to suit your natural hair & skin.

Do results change for different types of skin?

Yes, they do. Oily skin types must exfoliate well before an appointment. For best results please do this for up to 7 days prior. Oily skin types will soften the pigment in the skin more so than dryer skin types. Oily skin may require more frequent colour boosts as they are likely to fade quicker. Hairstrokes will hold much better and crisper in dry skin and are less likely to fade as quickly as someone with oily skin.

Are Permanent Cosmetic Tattoo include a retouch/follow up appointment?

Yes, a follow up appointment is included up to 3 months after your initial appointment. Not everyone needs a follow up. After the 3 month period you will be charged as a Colour boost treatment.

Are Permanent Cosmetic Tattoo suitable for everyone?

Please inform us if you are taking any medication, or have suffered from any illness or virus within the last 6 months. You cannot receive permanent cosmetics if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Please let us know if you have or are on any medication/ creams to treat acne in the last 6 months.

What should I avoid before /after my appointment?

Strictly no caffeine/ alcohol/ aspirins or any other form of pain killers 48 hours before your appointment. Please also inform us if you are taking any supplements, for example fish oil tablets, as these will affect how your treatment will heal.

Can I wear make up after the treatment /What’s the aftercare?

Aftercare – For the first 7 days the brows need to be kept dry, which means no water, no creams or balms and no sweaty exercise. (Further aftercare info can be found at the ‘Aftercare’ tab )
You can wear mineral cosmetics immediately, however, you need to wait until the treatment area has healed before wearing traditional cosmetics. If applying traditional cosmetics elsewhere, ensure you don’t cover the treatment area, as this could lead to healing problems.
Permanent cosmetics are typically used to enhance your natural features, therefore after your treatment has healed, you can wear makeup to complement and enhance your permanent cosmetics.

How long will it last?

This varies from person to person because skin type, diet, genetics and environmental factors can all contribute to how long the pigments will be retained.

As a guide, it could be anything between one to five years before a new treatment is required, although refresher colour boosts are recommended for maintenance during this time. Once the colour starts to change you will know that you are ready for your refresher colour boost. It is important to remember that permanent make-up is a “low”, not a “no” maintenance treatment.

How long will the Cosmetic Tattoo treatment take?

Treatment times vary depending on how advanced or detailed the required result is. Although some treatments may take as little as 1 hour, you should set aside 2- 3 hours for your appointment.

How quickly will it heal?

Everyone is different, but as a general rule the surface skin generally heals between 3-7 days after the treatment, and 10-14 days below the surface. Many people will return to work the same day after a treatment, however, we don’t advise driving after a eyeliner / lash enhancement, in case your eyes are a little swollen or watery immediately after the treatment.

Do my natural brows need to be shaved off?

Absolutely not. If you have natural brow hairs, your artist will work with what you have, subtly integrating their work to suit your natural brow style.
